“CAMPUS Asia” Exchange Activity Held between Our School and the School of International Relations & Public Affairs at Fudan University

On the morning of November 2, 2023, a delegation of five teachers and students from the School of International Relations & Public Affairs of Fudan University, led by Gao Xin and Wu Yufei from the International Office, visited our School. An informal discussion was held at C104, bringing together teachers and students from both institutions participating in the “CAMPUS Asia” program. Associate Professor Dong Zhaohua, Vice Dean of our School, Chen Fang, Deputy Director of the Office for International Programs, Xu Jiaqi from the Office for International Programs, and students representing the “CAMPUS Asia” program at our School attended the meeting.

The meeting began with an introduction to our School’s progress and program offerings by Dong Zhaohua, Vice Dean of our School. She reviewed the history of exchanges between our faculty and the School of International Relations & Public Affairs at Fudan University under the “CAMPUS Asia” initiative. She gave special recognition to the innovative exchanges and development models of both institutions within the framework of “CAMPUS Asia.” The Vice Dean also expressed her hopes for continued friendship between students from both universities.

Following this, teachers and students of both schools had a thorough discussion on their original intention, experience, study, life, and academic interests related to the program. Students from both sides unanimously agreed that “CAMPUS Asia” provides an open and inviting platform for young people from China, Japan, and South Korea. It facilitates mutual understanding, dispels biases, and enriches resources for the enhancement of academic capabilities.

After the meeting, Peking University students invited their counterparts from Fudan University to tour the campus. The students carefully planned the itinerary, sharing the history and development of Peking University and narrating stories about the humanistic and natural landscapes on campus. Walking amid the autumn scenery, the Fudan University students expressed their satisfaction with this unforgettable visit to Peking University.

The “CAMPUS Asia” program, spearheaded by the governments of China, Japan, and South Korea, aims to promote academic exchanges and cooperation among universities in the three countries. The “Multidisciplinary Education Program for Careers on Risk Management Experts in Asia” jointly participated in by Fudan University, Kobe University, and Korea University, as well as the “Double Degree, Exchange, and Online Learning Programs on International and Public Policy Studies in Asia,” jointly participated in by our School, the University of Tokyo, and Seoul National University, were initiated in 2011 and included in the “CAMPUS Asia” Programs in Mode 3 in 2021. (During the Mode 3, our School launched the “China, Japan, and South Korea + X” model to attract National University of Singapore, and formed the BESETO + NUS Platform for the Double Degree, Exchange, and Online Learning Programs on International and Public Policy Studies in Asia with Peking University, Seoul National University, the University of Tokyo, and National University of Singapore). In response to the Ministry of Education’s call to strengthen links among domestic universities under the “CAMPUS Asia” banner, this exchange activity provides a platform for young scholars from China, Japan, and South Korea to gain knowledge about China’s national conditions and culture, thereby deepening their friendships and mutual understanding.
