On December 2, 2022, the 2022 CAMPUS Asia Plus Symposium was held at Kobe University with the participation of Fudan University of China, Korea University of the Republic of Korea (ROK), Kobe University of Japan, National University of Laos and Chulalongkorn University of Thailand, in both online and offline forms. The Symposium themed on “Risk-Management for Future Cooperation in Asia” attracted nearly one hundred students and scholars from the five universities to share their research progress on risk management and discuss the future direction of Asian cooperation. SU Changhe, Dean of the School of International Relations & Public Affairs at Fudan University, ZHANG Ping, Assistant to the Dean, LI Yin, Executive Director of the Program, ZHENG Bingdao, faculty adviser of the Department of Public Management Department and staff of the International Office, attended the Symposium.
Under the chair of Professor Keiichi OGAWA from the Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies at Kobe University, Professor Tamotsu NAKAMURA, Executive Vice President of Kobe University, delivered the opening speech for the Symposium. He mainly introduced the preparation for CAMPUS Asia and emphasized the achievements and significance of the program at the current stage. With his warm congratulations and welcome to all attendees, he expressed his expectation that the Program would further promote the internationalization of Kobe University. On behalf of their respective universities, Professor SU Changhe, Dean of the School of International Relations & Public Affairs at Fudan University, Professor Koji YAMAZAKI from Kobe University, and Professor Moonsung KANG from Korea University delivered speeches, exchanged gifts, and took group photos together.
After the opening ceremony, Professor Keiichi OGAWA from Japan chaired the discussion on the development history and future prospects for CAMPUS Asia. He invited ten participating students in the Program to share their experience of the exchange, as well as their gains and thoughts on the internship in international organizations.
During the section of student presentations, the five universities selected 12 papers based on factors of quality and fair and open principles, which were displayed in three parallel sessions. At Parallel Session I chaired by Seungho LEE from Korea University, ZHENG Bingdao from Fudan University and Phouphet KYOPHILAVONG from National University of Laos gave their comments; at Parallel Session II chaired by Cuz POTTER, LI Yin from Fudan University and Mizan B.F.BISRI from Kobe University thought highly of the students’ achievements and put forward suggestions for further improvement; at Parallel Session III chaired by Phouphet KYOPHILAVONG, Kyuwon KANG from Korea University and Minato NAKAZAWA from Kobe University commented on students’ papers and put forward questions and suggestions.
HONG Shujin, YANG Yihan, ZHANG Shijia, and ZHENG Jiahe from the MA program in International Public Policy (IPP) had a great showing at this international symposium. They revised and submitted their papers under the guidance of LI Yin, Executive Director of “CAMPUS Asia.” At this wonderful academic exchange, all students expressed their ideas freely and learned about others’ views in engaging discussions. All attendees of this Symposium had a further understanding of discipline issues with immeasurable gain. At the end of the Symposium, Professor ZHANG Ping, Assistant to the Dean, who was also in charge of our school’s foreign affairs, Professor Keiichi OGAWA and Professor Kan KIMURA from Kobe University, and Professor Cuz POTTER from Korea University made closing remarks.
