When we first arrived in Japan, our teacher not only showed us around so that we could be familiar with the surroundings but also emailed us frequently to see how we were doing. At first, I was not used to communicating in English. After two to three days, I was able to speak simple English fluently. My routine is all about studying, eating, going to supermarkets, and enjoying delicious food.
Despite havingdifferent mother tongues, AFIMA members get along very well. They are all good at English. At the same time, I have two Teaching Assistants (TA), one Chinese and the other Japanese, and other Chinese students around to help me get adjusted to the life here.
Recently, I have been studying in the laboratory. My instructor even specifically asked one Chinese postgraduate candidate who can speak Japanese to come all the way from Kyoto to study, eat, and go shopping with me. The lab experiments, which the instructor explains and demonstrates in person for us, are also very interesting. Time just flies in these fulfilling days since we get here.
